About Peeples
Overview
Peeples Middle School is one of seven middle schools in the Jackson Public School District. The school serves scholars in grades 6 - 8.
General Information
School Colors: Black and Gold
Mascot: Hornet
Uniforms: Scholar may wear these colors as part of the school uniform: khaki and navy bottoms, skirts, and dresses. Additionally, each grade level is assigned the following color for their uniform tops:
- 6th Grade: White
- 7th Grade: Gold
- 8th Grade: Black
Scholars will have the option of wearing school t-shirts and jeans only on announced Fridays. Notification will be provided in advance for these special days.

Peeples' Namesake
Peeples was named to honor Pinckney Washington Peeples. He lived from1835 to 1896. The North Carolina native was a graduate of the literary department of the University of Virginia and studied at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa. In Carroll County he practiced medicine and went on to organize and serve as president of the Jackson State Bank. He owned the Edwards Hotel, served as a member and as president of the Board of Trustees of Belhaven, was president of the Jackson Board of Trade, and served as a member of the first Board of Trustees of the school district.
